General Performance Index©

(GPI: General Performance Index): "It is an index that measures the performance that a tennis player has had in a given period of time." This index, not shown here, is used to make the "General Performance Ranking© or GPI Ranking© ".

This March, the podium of the best Top 30 of the General Performance Ranking© is made up of the Canadian Bianca Andreescu, the Czech Marketa Vondrousova and the German Tatjana Maria. As you can see none of the three is Top 10 of the WTA Ranking.

9 Top 10 of the WTA Ranking are included in the Top 30 of the GPI Ranking©. The only exception is the American Sloane Stephens (8) who had little participation in the month of March losing in Indian Wells in the first round against the Swiss Stefanie Voegele (Ranking WTA 109) and in the second round against Tatjana Maria (Ranking WTA) 62) at the Miami Open.

The Czech Karolina Pliskova and the Aussie  Ashleigh Barty, are other of the two tennis players of better performance during the month of March. Another outstanding tennis player has been Venus Williams with a great performance in the month under analysis.

Soon we will be delivering a quarterly report that will analyze these same concepts. We assume that, some players will stand out more one month than in another. The interesting thing will be to see the General Performance Ranking© for a longer period of time, 3 months in this case. Here the concept of "regularity" in the season is implicit.
